Sir Topham Hatt stands in Maron Park, wishing for the time before the conflict. He realizes Mr. Percival is standing in the shadows, and he calls him out. When Percival questions Hatt's motives for cutting off trade, Hatt lays blame on him for derailing Spencer. Despite claiming no responsibility, Hatt's decision stands.
Meanwhile, at the Quarry, some workmen begin to fear for the worst, contemplating action.
Sir Topham then meets with Reverend Laxey. The vicar, who frequently trades with Percival, asks if Hatt's decleration will prevent him from sending goods to Percival. Hatt confirms his decesion once more, warning reprecussions if the Reverened breaks his cease trade.
At the Transfer Yards, Mr. Percival and his assistant look over the closed Transfer Yards, blaming Hatt for bringing a close to their primary source of income for their railway.
